I was Head of Construction for 8 years with the Co-operative Group at the peak of their estate growth, responsible for all their 5000+ high-street locations, including Food, Bank, Pharmacy and Funeralcare. During that time I was delivering their new build, relocation, decommission, facilities management, energy management, refits and disposal programmes for their expanding national portfolio. I was leading an internal property team of 200 employees, and responsible for a supply chain of around 400 contractors. During this time, I led a complete overhaul of working practices, introducing best-practice project & programme management approaches, recruiting industry top talent, creating an industry specific skills framework, and working collaboratively with contractors to deliver both value and quality, whilst driving vast cost efficiency back to the organisation.
