Apprentice Technical Co-ordinator, Berkeley St Edward

I am 19 years old and am one year into studying a Design and Build Level 4 Apprenticeship at Berkeley’s West End Gate in London, an award-winning regeneration scheme of over 800 homes. As a Technical Apprentice, I liaise closely with the Land, Commercial and Construction Departments from design through procurement and construction. I ensure the requirements agreed at planning stage are met. I coordinate different information with consultants and contractors such as kitchen designs, technical information and floor finishes and pass the correct information onto the build team. I organise and lead workshop meetings with the consultants and the wider team on BREEAM and Secure by Design, making sure everyone is on the same page and actively working together. My work in sustainability innovations was recently recognised with an Investing In Our Future award from Berkeley St Edward, where I was selected from 600 people. My aspiration is to begin my Level 6 Design and Build apprenticeship next year. My ultimate goal is to become Technical Director. I am passionate about supporting other people into the industry and in particular, young, Black women. I recently gave a presentation to sixth form students at the Black Leaders of The Future event and am due to speak at another of their events which will have over 300 attendees. I am part of the Women and Allies networking group at Berkeley, and feed into discussions about how we can work together to make the business more inclusive.
