Rebecca Rickwood
Programme Director,
Gement
Rebecca graduated with a 1st class BSc (Hons) Degree in Chemistry from Queen Mary University of London, where her research focused on geopolymer cement and its use in the construction industry. Having worked initially in technology, Rebecca pivoted to construction where her work focused on the chemical structure of concrete. Seeing first-hand the lack of young people and women to look up to in construction, Rebecca founded Gement to grow talent and representation in the construction industry and is leading the way to address the skills shortage the industry currently faces. As well as being CEO of Gement, Rebecca is also Head of Finance and Strategy for the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP), managing over 2M EUR of funds to manufacture a magnesium carbonate-based concrete and Director of the Association of Alkali Activated Cementitious Materials (A3CM), a company supporting the development of sustainable cement, and sits on the board of BSI (British Standards Institution) B/517. Rebecca is also the recipient of many awards including UKCW Role Model Nominee 2023, Santander Entrepreneur Award and Female CEO 2022.
