Paula is a Construction Icon inspires future generations and has greatly influenced engineering in London and worldwide. Her projects include Data Manager on the Thames Barrier 100 Year Life Project and Lead Engineer for the early stages of Hinkley Point; currently Europe’s biggest construction project. She is a true leader with significant contributions to the industry including being a Trustee of ICE and WES. She is a champion for sustainability and curated the first ever Climate Change special issue and getting the whole suite of journals linked to the UN SDGs. She also chairs the WES Climate Emergency Group and Stockton Business Climate Coalition. Paula also fights for the rights of underrepresented groups in construction; she championed the new company menopause policy and was featured in CIOB Pride Campaign. Beyond SRM where she co-chairs the Gender Affinity group she regularly features as a role model in conferences, blogs and events. She also heavily supports and promotes allies. She mentors’ many within SRM and beyond and has personally many gain professional qualifications and the confidence to reach their potential. She helps shift the dial for future education and her many long standing and significant contributions to Teesside University have been recognised with and Honorary Professorship. Paula manages the social value on her project and through this encourages others to leave their own legacy. Her personal STEM work where she has reached over 180,000 participants of all ages. She widely promotes engineering, construction in an inclusive way making the sector a possible career choice for many. Paula’s significant and wide-reaching work has received many awards which give an indication of her impact and how much she has inspired others. Amongst them are Tees Lifelong Inspiration, European WICE Lifetime in Engineering, CECE NE Lifetime Achievement and several ESG / Mentor / STEM Awards.
