Michael Collinge MIET MCMI MSET is Technical Director of Certi-fi Schemes Ltd, providing strategic technical leadership for the Flexi-Orb Renewables Scheme across battery energy storage, solar PV, electric vehicle charging and other low-carbon technologies.
With more than 30 years’ experience, Michael’s career spans electrical engineering, inspection and testing, technical education, certification, workforce competence and standards development. Beginning as an electrical apprentice and progressing to JIB Approved Electrician, lecturer, internal quality assurer and technical leader, he brings practical insight across the complete engineering assurance lifecycle.
Michael is Deputy Chair of BSI SGG/0 Energy Storage Governance, the Chair Energy Storage Association Safety Committee, and the City & Guilds Employer Industry Board for Building Services Engineering.
He also represents the UK as an expert on CENELEC and IEC committees covering battery energy storage and solar photovoltaics.
His specialist areas include battery safety, thermal runaway, fire and explosion risk, certification, conformity assessment, technical governance, and workforce competence.
His work brings together government, industry, manufacturers, standards bodies, certification organisations, and education providers to support the safe and competent delivery of the energy transition.
