Site Manager,
Wates Construction
At 17, I was told by my careers advisor that women had no place in construction. My own mother didn't speak to me for three months, convinced that my only path to a successful career was through a degree in a different industry. These stereotypes fuelled my passion to become a fierce advocate for the industry. Despite its negative image, I strive to showcase its true potential. I seize every opportunity to drive change, challenge leaders, and amplify the voices of young people. Being a CLC young ambassador, the national chair for G4C, hosting CPD sessions, awards, webinars and supporting women's networks are just a few ways I demonstrate my commitment to making a difference. Through speaking engagements, supporting work placements, and using social media, I empower others and proudly represent construction. People often wonder how I manage to balance my involvement in activities beyond my day job, but my passion for my work and the profound impact it has on the community is exactly the reason I make time to make a difference.
