Kevin Pratt

Director, Pure Haus

Kev is championing a just transition in the built environment through the Yorkshire Building Centre of Excellence. As a trailblazing entrepreneur who is putting his skin in the game to vote for a future he would like to see. Driven by a vision for homes built to a higher environmental standard and a workforce with the skills to deliver a sustainable transition in the built environment. As a co- director of Pure Haus, an award-winning development company, who builds homes to an exceptional standard, a homeowner who has invested in a deep retrofit and a director of the Pure Haus School of Excellence. The school of excellence provides education to practitioners, who want to improve their practices in the built environment, to enable them to become more sustainable. This practical working knowledge underpins the school's understanding of how the future of construction can be shaped in a sustainable way. With an appetite for learning and sharing knowledge this has led to a desire to educate, empower and execute a positive change in the built environment. Through voluntary unpaid efforts, regular events are being held within Yorkshire to share good practice and engage our industry to get better. Through a combination of these events and the education provided to over five hundred people we can see a need for better access to practical working knowledge. When this industry knowledge is combined with our universities academic rigour this could unlock the potential of the industry. The Centre will bring together those working in retrofit, building and the general public to enable the future proofing of our homes and create the legacy we can, will and must make happen. The Yorkshire Building Centre of Excellence will provide "future skills for future buildings" which will shape a sustainable transition in the built environment and provide substantial financial returns to the economy. The centre has partnered with the Built Environment Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) centre which has led the way in a transition in Scotland through this proven model.
