Degree Apprentice, AtkinsRéalis
I have nominated myself as a UKCW Role Model, following my dedication to the construction industry and continuous professional development of others and myself. I have driven for positive change in structuring apprentice training in the workplace, supporting mentoring and forums for early careers as the Apprenticeship Schemes have changed over the years. I have progressed through a Level 3 and 4 Apprenticeship Scheme from 2016 to nearly completing my Degree Apprenticeship. I believe I have had a positive impact to inspire others as a school leaver towards becoming a Civil Engineer that apprenticeships do work and serve as a viable option to everyone. Since 2022, I have become heavily involved in STEM and the work experience system at my office. I have aided to develop a schedule and lead the work experience programme to work with schools and referred individuals. As a STEM Ambassador, I have had the opportunity to showcasing my role, engineering, and I can share my experience to inspire others and alleviate any misconceptions that the students have. Over my career, I have shown a dedication to Health and Safety, First Aiding and currently assist as a First Aider in my office. Whilst travelling for project-work, I have used my safety-first aid training to provide emergency help to an individual involved in a collision with a car. From applying first aid to a real-life scenario, I was able to ensure the incident from worsening and potentially a fatal injury to the individual. I have led numerous deliveries of projects to clients to the best of my ability, supporting my team and continuously upskilling my proficiency in software and engineering knowledge. In the future, I hope to further my contributions as a role model in my field through greater collaboration with the construction industry and government.
