Emma Harris

Emma Harris

Head of Governor Recruitment, Governors for Schools
Emma is a school governor and senior leader. Her career has focussed on volunteer recruitment and she’s passionate about the social impact that employers can have by enabling their people to support communities. Emma leads on the award-winning STEM governor programme, developed with AtkinsRéalis, addressing the skills shortage in STEM sectors. STEM governors, supported by their employers, are able to champion STEM at a strategic level, whilst building long-term relationships between education and industry. This allows for a sustained programme of STEM enrichment building on pupils' experience, equipping them to make informed choices about future careers. Emma works with numerous employers on this programme to address each of the STEM subjects; the breadth of skills within the construction sector drives her work in this area. She also manages the partnerships team to match and place volunteers into some of the 5,000+ school board vacancies registered with Governor for Schools.
