Ahsan is xRI's Director of Research and Innovation and leads the Data Driven Decarbonisation programme bringing together Government, Industry and Academia to develop, support and exploit data driven approaches to national and place-based decarbonisation activity. He and his team have been instrumental in developing data infrastructure and standards adopted by the Welsh Government across the Innovative Housing and Optimised Retrofit Programme. He leads the Net Zero Digital Workstream for the Construction Leadership Council and is a member of the Green Construction Board Steering Committee with remit to support Government effort to enhance digitalisation and evidence gathering across capital intensive decarbonisation programmes. Ahsan also supports the National Retrofit Hub as the Chair for Working Group 1: Warm, Healthy, Net Zero Homes bringing together industry wide views on the challenges that need to be overcome as the sector migrates to decarbonisation delivery
at scale. A technologist at heart, Ahsan has led the development of multi-spectral robotics-based built environment scanning systems to enable real-world data acquisition and support building-level through to nation-scale stock characterisation and defect detection.
