TLJ proud to work with Nido Student on flagship development in Glasgow
Newly opened for the 2019/20 student intake in September, Boyce House offers cutting edge accommodation facilities for the modern, discerning student. Located within a 10-minute walk of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian universities, the site boasts facilities such as 200 Mbps Wifi, an in-house gym, bike storage and cinema room.
Future-proofed solutions
TLJ installed over 400 Identity electronic keycard locks on Studios and Ensuite Apartments, as well as over 20 wall mounted access control readers for public doors, main entrances and communal areas. All locks and readers are operated via contactless RFID key fobs, uniquely programmed for each student based on their access permissions. So, for example, a single fob may give the student access to the main entrance, reception, communal study rooms, social space, laundry room and, ultimately, their apartment, bedroom or private studio. If a fob is lost or damaged, it’s easily and quickly replaced by a member of reception staff. In addition, the wall mounted readers have been seamlessly integrated with the building’s intercom system for exceptional security and ease of use.
Safety and security first
TLJ’s locks carry, as standard, a cast-iron set of security and safety certificates. They include Secured by Design, an official Police security initiative that tests beyond PAS24 standards; Certifire, an internationally recognised mark of fire safety; and full CE Marking, including FD30 and FD60 fire tests and mechanical cycle testing.
As preferred supplier of both Nido Student and Watkin Jones Group (the project’s building contractor), TLJ were the natural choice for access control. Furthermore, Nido Student’s owners are Round Hill Capital, with whom TLJ have worked on PBSA projects in Holland.
