Reader Cement Products Ltd marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at Arodo in Belgium. This follows the recent approval by the parent company, Langley Holdings plc, for a £5 million investment to expand Reader’s central production facility, Nottingham.
The investment will see the addition of six new Arodo Arovac® 500 automated packing machines, complemented by SGH Equipment’s material handling solutions. This expansion is set to increase Reader’s annual production to over 10 million bags, solidifying its status as the UK’s largest independent materials blending and packing producer.
In 2023, Reader made a strategic decision to incorporate recycled plastic into its packaging materials, achieving an impressive 50% blend. With this investment, you can expect to see exclusively recycled and recyclable packaging becoming the new standard. Moreover, Reader maintains a steadfast commitment to pioneering innovative, low carbon products, showcasing its dedication to sustainability and product excellence.
William Langley, Managing Director of Reader Cement Products Ltd, stated, “I anticipate the new plant to be operational by Q2 2024. This investment strategically positions us to meet the growing demands of the UK market for PostFAST®️ and other packed products, while aligning with our sustainability goals.”
