PRESTIGIOUS HOTEL ROOFTOPS
Cashel Palace Hotel sits amidst the green hills and landscapes of Tipperary and castle, Rock of Castel, is steeped in a rich back story dating back to the 1730s. The historic Hotel, its buildings and landscapes have been meticulously restored by Mulcahy Construction after it closed in 2015. Reopened in March 2022, its interior details have been upgraded and redesigned with a nod to its original splendour and the exterior rooftops have been transformed from a grey barren expanse to rich green swathes, courtesy of its classified EverRoof® artificial green roof system installation.
SIX GREEN ROOFTOPS
Atop the six manor buildings of the Hotel and alongside the three-acre gardens and spa, the EverRoof team set to installing over 1000 square metres of their EVR1 artificial green roof system. Taking seven of the team six days to complete, deliveries and works were scheduled carefully to fit in with the broader construction programmes. From the earliest site visits to inspect and prepare an installation plan to the final completion, Frankie Nolan, Project Manager at Mulcahy Construction, praised EverRoof’s detailed considerations of timings, weather conditions and access:
“Working with EverRoof has been A1 from the offset. We had a clear vision of installation dates – weather allowing – and there was clear communication from the team throughout.” – Frankie Nolan, Mulcahy Construction
VISUAL AERIAL IMPACT
The six individual EverRoof installations offer a bold visual contrast to the surrounding buildings and views, embracing a rooftop of green instead of the industrial grey it covered. Two full articulated vehicles were dispatched from the Rutland-based headquarters and central warehouse, plus a separate self-drive for the team, their tools and accessories to enable the most professional installation and completion of the project as planned.
SAFETY AND AESTHETICS
The EVR1 artificial green roof features its uniquely classified fire and wind-tested system, creating not only a very appealing visual statement but a safety-conscious one too.
CONTRACTOR COLLABORATION
As is always the case, communication and collaboration between supplier and contractor was key on site. Carefully researching artificial green roof suppliers who could professionally manage such a prestigious installation, the project architect at Mulcahy contacted EverRoof, part of the Evergreens UK Group. They requested samples, reviewed the detailed and comprehensive information about the system and its safety features and the quote provided. Impressed with the service, price and system suitability, a site visit and inspection was arranged.
Supplier selected, the installation required the pre-arrangement of access to an area that had tight access and restricted vehicle entrance. It took careful coordination to manoeuvre materials into place.
“Ordering, delivery, installation – all went off without a hitch. It is always good to have such contractor confidence,” continued Frankie from Mulcahy.
“It was a pleasure to be involved in this expansive project, which demonstrates how EverRoof can transform roof spaces - a breath-taking result with that stunning backdrop of Tipperary.” commented Andy Driver, Sales and Marketing Director, EverRoof®
THE FINISHING TOUCH
Delighted with the end results and the performance and durability of the product to date, the contractor and hotel owners are pleased to have a more attractive aerial aspect, one that replaces the industrial look with a long-lasting vibrant sea of green and adds a fine finishing flourish to this prestigious hotel and spa destination.
