WOMEN BUILDING THE RESET: A NEW NETWORKING EXPERIENCE AT UK CONSTRUCTION WEEK BIRMINGHAM

One hour. Four conversations. Women shaping what construction does next.
This September, women from across construction, property and the wider built environment will come together at UK Construction Week Birmingham 2026 for an hour dedicated to conversation, visibility and meaningful connection.
Taking place on Tuesday 29 September from 11:45am to 12:45pm in the Build Connect Lounge at the NEC Birmingham, Women Building the Reset will bring together professionals from across the sector to exchange experiences, challenge established thinking and explore what the industry should do differently next.
The session is hosted by NAWIC Midlands, in collaboration with Women in Property and G4C West Midlands, and in partnership with UK Construction Week Birmingham 2026.
Rather than another traditional panel discussion, the session puts the conversation directly into the hands of the women in the room.
Three networks bringing women across the built environment together
Behind Women Building the Reset are three networks committed to creating stronger connections, greater visibility and more opportunities across construction and the built environment.
NAWIC Midlands, part of the National Association of Women in Construction, provides a regional network for women working across construction, supporting professional development, knowledge sharing and connections while helping to champion greater representation across the industry.
Joining them is Women in Property, a national organisation creating opportunities for women working across the property and construction sectors. Through networking, mentoring, professional development and industry engagement, the organisation works to connect professionals at different stages of their careers and support a more inclusive property and built environment sector.
G4C West Midlands, the regional Generation for Change network, brings together the next generation of construction and built environment professionals. With a focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing and giving emerging talent a stronger voice within the industry, the network helps younger professionals build relationships while contributing to conversations about construction's future.
By bringing these communities together at UK Construction Week Birmingham, Women Building the Reset will connect different disciplines, career stages and perspectives in the same room.
It also reflects the ambition behind this year's wider Construction RESET theme: bringing the industry together to question established ways of working and consider how construction can Build Better, Build Smarter and Build Responsibly.
Four conversations. One shared ambition.
Instead of sitting back and listening, participants will choose one of four focused roundtable conversations and become part of the discussion.
01 | Resetting the Workforce
Trades • Skills • Site • Careers • Progression
How can construction attract, retain and develop the people it needs? From careers and skills to site experience and progression, the conversation will examine what needs to change to build a stronger workforce for the future.
02 | Resetting How We Build
Design • Digital • Innovation • Sustainability • Delivery
Technology, sustainability and changing expectations are transforming project delivery. This table will explore how new approaches to design, digitalisation and innovation could help the industry build differently and deliver better outcomes.
03 | Resetting Responsibility
Safety • Competence • Engineering • Quality • Accountability
As expectations around safety, competence and accountability continue to rise, participants will discuss what responsibility means across today's built environment and how the sector can continue raising standards.
04 | Resetting the Rules of the Game
Legal • Commercial • Procurement • Culture • Leadership
From procurement and commercial relationships to leadership and workplace culture, this conversation will look at the systems and behaviours shaping construction and ask where the rules of the game need to change.
Networking built around visibility
The conversations are only one part of the session.
Because meaningful networking starts with knowing who is in the room, every registered participant will also be featured in a rotating participant showcase, creating an opportunity for the women taking part to be seen, recognised and connected beyond their individual roundtable.
At the end of the discussions, everyone will come back together to share the ideas and themes that emerged before moving into open networking.
And there will be one simple challenge for everyone taking part:
Make one connection you did not have when you entered the room.
Whether that connection leads to a new idea, collaboration, opportunity or simply a conversation that continues after UKCW, the aim is to make networking more purposeful and give everyone in the room the opportunity to participate.
