Panel Discussion: How Housing Associations can benefit from BIM

06 Oct 2020
Digital Construction Hub
In the context of the Grenfell Tragedy, the Hackitt Review and the Building Safety Bill, pressure is growing to manage the creation, handover and retention of vital building and fire safety information, as a minimum. However, whilst Housing Associations are well placed to benefit from integrating BIM processes into their development and asset management strategies, few hold sufficient information about their projects, and even fewer in digital form.
Client led requirements for BIM are often cited as the missing link in the widespread adoption of digital construction.  These organisations are innovative, having adapted to changes in regulation, funding, ownership and procurement in recent decades. How can they be assisted to implement digital construction and digital asset management?
A collaborative team has been working to pull together a set of exemplar resources and best practice guidance for housing associations to help them take the first steps towards digitising their estate.
This project is funded by several of London’s G15 Group of the largest housing associations including A2Dominion, Notting Hill Genesis, Optivo, Peabody and Southern Housing Group. It is further endorsed by the National Housing Federation (NHF) and the UK BIM Alliance.
This session will introduce the project for the construction community.
