CDBB: What is our role in a digital built Britain?
The presentation introduces the work of the Centre for Digital Built Britain and how the centre supports the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy and the UK’s ability to efficiently, effectively and cleanly design, build, operate and integrate the built environment is fundamental to the country’s economy and social wellbeing.
It will cover how CDBB and the Construction Innovation Hub works in partnership with industry, government and academia to develop a digital built environment that improves quality of life for all by supporting the construction and infrastructure sectors to implement new digital approaches to better design, build, operate, and integrate the built environment.
It features a number of case studies which demonstrate how improved information management processes and the use of technologies have led to benefits, including a school in Swindon which used BIM to de-risk the design process with a positive impact on the delivery and quality –and CDBB-funded work develop a digital twin demonstrator and research facility based in the University’s West Cambridge Campus to explore the challenges associated with production of a National Digital Twin.
It explores how CDBB work explores the barriers and blockers to digital transformation working with more than 90 researchers to develop skills and capabilities in the construction and infrastructure sector, to commission new research required to underpin these capabilities and makes links to research that already exists that could be useful
