The tragedy of Grenfell Tower is considered one of the worst events in the history of public sector housing. Responsibility has been cast towards the site-based activity of the project, but the inquiry continues to unearth multiple failings by the pre-construction, professional design team. The legislative desire by the UK government to mandate a ‘golden thread’ has also created an opportunity for adopting the ‘digital twin’ which will also inspire clients to seek greater transparency, accountability and better societal outcomes.
