Having been in the industry for 8 years, I have positioned myself to remain visible in the industry to inspire those to see themselves in construction also. Having been both a mentee and mentor of initiatives such as BuiltByUs & Women Into Construction, last year I kickstarted the Let’s Build Academy, (an extension of Let’s Build) to provide mentoring services to young people and new entrants into the industry. We have successfully managed to secure buy in from a few architectural firms – this is only the beginning. I was selected to be a judge of Mobie’s partnership with the GLA ‘Design Future London Young Persons’ Design Challenge last May, where I helped to shortlist master planning submissions of the 11-15 category. I became a mother last September and was crowned the Winner of Unsung Hero (southern region category) by NFB Top 100 Influential Women in Construction Awards in October. Transitioning into motherhood has been an interesting one – I am currently working on something to raise more awareness of parenthood and what it means to those currently in the industry. Breaking into the consultancy world, I join Aecom as Project Manager at the end of May.
