Malcolm Hankey

Director, BlueLight Management

Malcolm is dual degree qualified in Civil Engineering and Law, is a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

He is a Director at BlueLight Management with over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. Initially starting his career in the design and delivery of flood defence projects with the Environment Agency, he is now currently a specialist Lead Project Manager in the provision of the turnaround and strategic management of distressed projects, presently delivering large scale schemes in the healthcare sector. He has developed a wide-ranging skillset including commercial negotiation and contractual disputes, with particular emphasis on technical construction matters, project management, design responsibility, workmanship issues, fire engineering and facades defects.

Malcolm is also Executive Director of The Civic Trust Awards, the longest standing architectural awards scheme in Europe. He was instrumental in rescuing the scheme from its parent charity, the Civic Trust in 2009 when it went into administration, ensuring its continuation.
