Time for change – putting building safety first

07 Oct 2021
UKCW Main Stage
A failure of leadership and culture was identified by Dame Judith Hackitt as a major contributory factor in the Grenfell Tower disaster. With regulation around the corner and the Building Safety Bill progressing through Parliament, there is recognition that the culture of the industry needs to change. The Building a Safer Future Charter is one of the key mechanisms to support companies to improve their leadership and culture in relation to building safety; the CPA’s newly launched Code for Construction Industry Product Information tackles the need for clear, accurate, up-to-date, accessible, unambiguous product information. How can we achieve effective collaborative building safety practice and share learning to shift culture and go further, faster?
