Building regulations - Part L 2022 – Conservation of Fuel & Power (Are gas boilers a thing of the past?)

05 Oct 2021
Sustainability Hub
The Government has issued a new Draft Approved Document L – Volumes 1 & 2 -with guidance on works to existing buildings and non-domestic buildings now included.
This is seen as a ‘stepping-stone’ towards the Government’s Future Homes Standard of 2025 which is part of the plan for all UK emissions to be net zero carbon by 2050.
The new 2022 Part L represents a significant step up from the current (2013) Edition, and includes an uplift in fabric insulation standards, improved u-values and increased efficiency standards for heating, hot water and ventilation systems for all buildings.
There will also be new requirements designed to reduce the gap between Design Performance and As-Built Performance – detailed evidence, testing and on-site audits will be needed.
This seminar will outline the implications for architects, builders and homeowners. Will triple glazing be necessary? Are gas boilers a thing of the past? Will wastewater heat recovery and PV systems be required in all dwellings?
Joe will also discuss the implementation dates and key cut-off dates for Transitional Provisions as well as the implications for multiple dwelling applications.
