BIM in Contracts: Still a Ticking Time Bomb - Are you ready?

07 Oct 2021
Digital Construction Hub
Despite the BIM mandate coming into force in the UK in 2016, and BIM becoming business as usual in many countries across the world, the legal and contractual side still gets largely ignored. It is common to find tenders telling contractors and consultants to "achieve Level 2 BIM in accordance with ISO19650" with little further detail (despite there being no Level 2 in the ISO19650). BIM contract documents are vague and parties are confused by the available BIM standard form contract templates and terms. In this practical session, one of the leading legal specialists in this area (and a co-author of a number of those documents) gives easily digestible explanations based on her many years of experience, on the common risks, causes of disputes, how to mitigate them - as well as a legalese-free guidance on the contents of the BIM standard form contract documentation and how to use them to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
