Counselling; what really happens in the counselling room
Taking that first brave step into the counselling room can be a move full of trepidation but is a wonderful opportunity to explore emotions and gain an understanding into troublesome well-being issues leading to self-enlightenment and positive changes.
From the moment you step through the doorway any stereotypical images of counselling will melt away. Your counsellor will greet you in a friendly way and will ask you to explain why you have come. This is your time to talk in your way and be truly listened too in a way that you may have never been listened to before. Your counsellor will not judge you, will be genuine with you and regard you with unconditional positive regard. Your sessions are held in total confidentiality and you will be encouraged to use your time and space to talk through, at your pace, any issues you bring into the counselling room. Together you and your counsellor will go on a journey that might be tough at times but will empower you to make the changes to your life or way of thinking for a better life.
