Best Practice in Bathroom Pod Specification, Design and Procurement
Bathroom pods are revolutionising construction and are now widely used for student accommodation, care homes, hospitals and housing – from high end luxury apartments to social housing. This presentation looks at the latest innovations in factory-built bathrooms and the critical specification considerations to optimise efficiency in the use of pods.
Too often bathroom pods are specified too late in the design process. Early engagement is critical as bathroom pods have to be designed into the building structure to allow installation.
The presentation would look at trends in the use of bathroom pods in the UK and how this approach to offsite construction can achieve significant programme savings, quality improvements and reductions in waste compared to in-situ construction.
It will also look at a case study for an award-winning bathroom pod project. South Quay Plaza for Berkeley Homes was the UK’s largest bathroom pod contract for a single residential scheme and took the standard of finish and level of design for bathroom pod specification to a completely new level.
