UK Construction Week, in association with CRASH, is delighted to bring you the first ever UKCW DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT.
Following the ever successful of Dodgeball London tournaments over the years, Dodgeball London are bringing their WSA Inflatable Arena to UK Construction Week between 10-12 October. To launch the competition, we are looking for teams of 6 players to join in a fun, team-building event. It’s all about the fun team kit (or play in what you turn up in!), the silly team name, catching, dodging, throwing and having a great time with your colleagues.
UK Construction Week will have DAILY trophies for 'Tournament Winners' and 'Last Player Standing Winner'! Last year the show saw some of the UK’s best known names in construction playing football against each other, from the largest architectural firms to local building contractors, this is your chance to have fun and pit yourselves against other construction firms for fun, or real competition! If you have never played before that’s not a problem on average 52% of teams in each tournament have never played before. Dodgeball it’s easy to pick up and we will send you the rules and go through them with you before the big day.
What’s better is you can help us raise valuable funds for the CRASH Charity as well. Rather than ask teams to pay an entry fee, all we ask for is a charity donation to our nominated Charity: CRASH is the construction industry’s charity. They are a unique, practical charity that assists homeless and hospice charities with construction related projects. They work collaboratively with all the charities they support offering pro bono professional expertise, obtaining building materials and awarding cash grants sourced from their Patron companies.
If you would like to enter a team or find out more information then please REGISTER BELOW:
There will be a daily tournament at UK Construction Week (UKCW) on 10th, 11th and 12th October at the NEC Birmingham. The Show opens at 10 and the tournament will be staged between 11am and 4pm. There is a beer festival open until 9 for post match beers and hot dogs.
Will there be refreshments?
If you donate more than £200 to CRASH, UKCW will give your team 18 Beer/Drink Vouchers (18 pints of beer or cider or other non-alcoholic drinks) and 6 Food Vouchers for the Beer and Ale Festival @ UKCW.
I am new to Dodgeball...
It's natural to feel intimidated at first but after one or two games, everyone always realizes there is nothing to it. Dodgeball is great fun, very easy to learn, one of the safest sports and is played in a controlled environment. We also use the best quality Dodgeball’s leaving you pain and bruise free.
Who enforces the rules?
The players themselves. Dodgeball is based on the honour system, players are expected to understand and abide by the rules on their own. During games, team captains and players that are not playing are responsible to assist as referees. Team captains are responsible to assign a player to ref if he/she is unable to ref.
What should I wear?
Regular athletic wear (trainers). We encourage teams to show their team spirit with matching uniforms, headbands and wristbands... Just like the film, but its up to you!
If I don't agree with the ref's call?
Accept the call and get on with the game. If there is a controversy over a call, the referee’s are ultimiately in charge and have the final say. There are no exceptions to this rule. While explanations of a referee’s call may be legitimately sought afterwards, protesting the referee’s judgement is forbidden.
Where will we play?
The WSA ARENA ‘The Inflatable Arena’ will be located in Hall 12 at UK Construction Week. Everyone can join in the fun with ‘The Inflatable Arena’ as a result of the netted sides which allow spectators to watch and cheer, so please make sure you bring some supporters with you.
What facilities are there?
There will be showers and changing rooms nearby.
