LOCKDOWN HEROES TO ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS: MANNOK’S WINNING STREAK BRINGS HOME SIX AWARDS

13 Jun 2021
The Mannok team are celebrating a collection of new awards, winning a total of six in their first month under the new Mannok name.

In the UK, Mannok have enjoyed a very fruitful day at this year’s National Buying Group (NBG) Awards, picking up a total of four awards recognising their products and their service to the builders merchant industry. NBG is the UK’s premier nationwide buying group for independent merchants, and their Supplier Awards honour the building industry’s major brands, recognising their contribution to the business success of NBG’s merchant partners.

Mannok swept the board at this year’s virtual event, winning:

  • Product of the Year: Mannok Master Grade Cement
  • General Building Supplier of the Year
  • Heavyside Brand of the Year
  • Lockdown Hero of the Year

In addition to the four award wins, Mannok were named in second place in the Brick and Block Supplier of the Year category and 3rd place in the Roofing and Insulation Supplier of the Year category.

In Ireland, Mannok took home the first of their six recent awards at the HR Leadership and Management Awards 2020, winning the Most Innovative Use of Technology Award for their new Digital Skills Development Programme. The Programme has transformed the way they deliver their training through the use of technology and has resulted in significant benefits for both the company and its employees.

The company’s packaging solutions side of the business also most recently collected a top national environmental award at the Repak Pakman awards in recognition of their achievements in reducing plastic waste and their contribution to a true circular economy. Mannok were winners of a Silver Plastic Pledge award, having been shortlisted from a field of 125 signatories of the comprehensive Repak Plastic Pledge commitment. Mannok successfully demonstrated significant achievements to win the Silver award, including the move to producing only fully recyclable plastic packaging, the removal of 1,000 tonnes of non-recyclable or difficult to recycle plastics from market, the use of circa 1 billion recycled PET bottles within their operations, and the diversion of 500 tonnes of black plastic packaging from landfill, and all in the space of a year.

Speaking of the company’s recent successes, Kevin Lunney, Mannok’s COO, said,

“Each of these awards means a great deal to us and shows that we’re up there with the very best in the industries we’re working in, and it tells us we’re doing a lot of things right. We’re delighted to receive this recognition for both our construction products and packaging solutions areas of the business, and in areas we pride ourselves on. We’ve received awards for everything from our products and service, to our innovation and sustainability efforts, and the work we’ve done to focus on our staff development. To pick up any of these awards would be a great achievement, but to win all six is an outstanding success and congratulations goes to the entire team here at Mannok. We’re incredibly proud.”
