We caught up with Civils Expo exhibitor, Bluebeam, to find out why they chose to exhibit at this year's show, what work they’re most proud of, and what visitors can expect to find at their stand.
Introduce your company:
Bluebeam pushes the boundaries of innovation, developing smart, simple markup and collaboration solutions for design and construction professionals worldwide. Since 2002, Bluebeam, Inc. has made desktop, mobile and cloud-based solutions for paperless workflows that leverage PDF to enable a common data environment, improve project communication, and streamline processes across the entire project lifecycle. Trusted by over 1 million individuals in more than 130 countries, Bluebeam's solutions advance the way technical professionals work, manage and collaborate on projects digitally. Founded in Pasadena, California, Bluebeam has grown to include additional offices in the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Denmark and Sweden. Bluebeam is part of the Nemetschek Group.
Talk us through your latest innovations:
Bluebeam Revu® delivers enhanced PDF-based takeoff and workflow automation tools that span the entire project lifecycle and maximize workflow efficiency. From feature suggestions and beta testers to engineering and quality assurance, Revu is evolving with the construction and engineering industry to help users do what they do better and faster. Our latest release, Revu 2017, introduced multiple new and improved tools for creating tenders and material takeoffs like Dynamic Fill, Quantity Link and new count and measurement tools. In addition, enhanced automation and visualisation tools such as Automatic Form Creation, Batch Sign & Seal, 360° Photos and 3D PDF enhancements serve projects at any stage throughout planning and construction.
What projects have you been involved with that you’re most proud of?
Whether we're on the road at an industry event or webcasting about paperless solutions, Bluebeam is always looking for ways to connect with customers.
Last year we introduced the Bluebeam Challenge at UK Construction Week, where attendees had the opportunity to compete head-to-head against each other by completing a series of workflow challenges using Revu. Participants demonstrated their expertise in front of their peers and teammates while receiving points for ingenuity in completing the task, audience engagement, team spirit and collaboration. We’re excited to bring it back again this year.
The Bluebeam eXtreme Conferences are immersive global conferences packed with Revu training, industry panels, networking opportunities, peer learning, keynotes, guest speakers and more. Entering its sixth year, the US eXtreme Conference began as an intimate customer appreciation day back in 2012 and by 2017 has grown to multi-day conferences in the US, UK and Sweden.
Bluebeam also engages in roundtables to create a progressive dialogue about the future of the industry. Recently, Construction Manager Magazine and Bluebeam teamed up to host and present a roundtable discussion on the complex layers of the BIM level two mandate in the UK with industry thought leaders and project champions to gain some unique perspectives. Discussion topics included the integration and standardisation of technology, the benefits of using PDF as a standard document format, the overall reaction to BIM adoption in the UK, contract requirements for BIM compliance, and the value of idea-sharing within the industry.
Lastly, Bluebeam got involved with Red Bull Global Rallycross in 2010 when we launched the first international version of Bluebeam Revu in Sweden. We continue to sponsor Olsbergs MSE and are growing our participation every year. Like our customers, the sport thrives on accuracy, communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment, so we're proud to be part of the Rallycross community.
Why did you choose to exhibit at UK Construction Week?
Bluebeam wants to be a part of the dialogue on key issues facing the construction and engineering industry, and UK Construction Week is a great opportunity to join this conversation. As one of the UK’s most significant events in construction, UK Construction Week’s wide range of programmes explore several trends and feature seminar tracks, networking opportunities, discussion panels and special exhibits that showcase improvements in the construction industry. With our understanding of industry workflows, we are looking forward to presenting the benefits that attendees can expect to gain from implementing digital workflows using Revu.
What can visitors expect to see at your stand?
Bluebeam experts will be giving live demonstrations of features and workflows in Revu 2017 and Studio at stand C414. Attendees can learn how to use Revu on a desktop, tablet or iPad, and how to collaborate in the cloud through Bluebeam Studio with project partners from all over the world. Visitors may also participate in the Bluebeam Challenge, where they can compete in digital workflow challenges and win a prize. Lastly, pick up a free 30-day trial of Revu 2017.
Do you have any product launches lined up for UK Construction Week?
Markup and collaborative solutions are the key drivers for Bluebeam, and creating exceptional mobile capabilities for Studio is at the forefront. We’re hard at work making sure our mobile experience meets our customers’ standards. We will also be introducing new integrations for Studio that provide greater access to many other systems that are key to fitting in with the construction industry. Lastly, we are continuing to launch new features for Revu Mac throughout the year.
