The buildings that we live and work in are becoming increasingly sophisticated, providing us with better control of our surroundings, improving levels of comfort and boosting efficiency.

At Smart Buildings 2017 companies and organisations from across the industry will be showcasing the products and solutions required to develop and manage a genuine smart building.

One of the highlights at Smart Buildings 2017 will be the KNX Pavilion, which will showcase various skills demonstrations, new products and exciting competitions. It will also provide the perfect opportunity for integrators, designers and architects to meet, discuss and stay up to date with all the latest information.

For anybody looking for safe and easy to install home comfort control, LUXORliving from Theben (stand S315) has arrived at just the right time. Contrary to a conventional KNX installation, LUXORliving only uses the functions that are absolutely necessary. LUXORliving also saves the user patterns from the last seven days and repeats them when the occupants of the house are away.

One of the most exciting prospects offered by smart homes of the future is the ability to tell your building what you want it to do. Fibar Group is making its show debut to promote Fibaro, one of the most innovative and recognisable smart home solutions on the market. Fibaro is compatible with voice control technologies, so you can tell the system what you want it to do, whether it’s listening to your favourite music or turning the heating on, and your wish will be fulfilled in seconds.

If you want to light up your home or office as effectively and efficiently as possible, stand S145 will be well worth a visit, where you can see some of the latest energy efficient luminaires and intelligent lighting systems from Luxonic.

HVAC will have a major role to play in the smart buildings of the future, in terms of both protecting the environment and providing comfortable places in which to live and work. Vaisala (stand S448) offers reliable, accurate and easy-to-use instruments for measuring humidity, temperature and carbon dioxide. They can be used indoors or outdoors, and installed on walls or in ventilation ducts.

Of course, no smart home would be truly complete without a state-of-the-art security system. Swann will provide advice and showcase some of its leading CCTV and security-centric solutions on stand S130.

Smart technology is not restricted to the home, it will revolutionise offices too. Audio visual specialist Proactive AV will be demonstrating the Clevertouch Pro 4k high resolution 86” interactive touchscreen, which allows customers to digitally review and mark up BIM models and PDFs or even collaborate with offsite remote workers.

Smart building technology is not going to be worth having if it is installed incorrectly, or if the installer is not confident in passing on their expertise to their customer. Moss Technical Services on stand S234 provides the correct level of product training and support to the installer, both initially and ongoing, so the product, such as Niko Home Control - with its vast capabilities and control options, cost effectiveness and energy saving features - can effectively sell itself.

You can see all of these great products and systems at Smart Buildings 2017, taking place from 10th-12th October at Birmingham’s NEC.
