UK Construction Week will be the first  public showing of  the technology and innovation behind Ten Fold.

Innovation in this industry has gone up a level or two in the last few years, and the arrival of Ten Fold at UK Construction Week is a good example of how great design and ingenuity are creating solutions to new challenges.

Ten Fold technology offers the tantalising possibility of fully relocatable, expanding buildings that arrive, self-unload and  self-deploy in minutes using almost no power. These units are furnished and ready for immediate use and can fold away and move  on as effortlessly as they arrive. They are flexible, modular and are able to provide almost any combination of space  and facility. The practical applications are almost infinite, from pop up site offices and shops, to hotel and leisure market solutions, to cope with peak demand. The Ten Fold approach also solves the challenge of annual and seasonal variations  in demand faced by educational institutions, the NHS and the Housing Sector.

With the only requirement for installation being a stable ground, the options for Ten Fold’s structures are expansive, including the ability to stack units for more space. The standard structure, the TF-64, includes 729 square feet of clear space when open and 112 square feet of storage space when closed. Doors, windows, and partition panels act as modular components, that can be arranged in a number of ways. The structure accommodates plumbing for showers, bathrooms, and kitchens to be fixed inside the unit or in adjoining modules. Aesthetic finishes such as the material and color of the walls are also adjustable.

The structures have the ability to be equipped with clean energy technologies such as solar power, batteries, water storage and water treatment in the units or via bolt-on power system pods. With this capability, the structures can go off-grid, which is beneficial for remote and extreme climates. The long-lasting steel design is constructed to meet BREEAM and LEED standards according to Ten Fold.

Not only does the portable structure represent a rethinking of residential design, but also an easily implemented solution to help communities in need. The shelters have the potential to provide services such as mobile clinics or grocery stores.

David Martyn, who has spent a number  of years developing Ten Fold, explains his  idea behind the concept: “Agility is a key facility in a world in flux. Ten Fold technology allows buildings – and the people that use them – to be where they are needed, when they are needed."

UK Construction Week is delighted to be the first event in which Ten Fold will demonstrate the versatility of its technology. By deploying its TF-64 building live at the show, visitors will be able to see and imagine the practical applications this new technology offers.More information on this exciting launch will be unveiled in the weeks to come.
